CRYSTAL Palace manager Neil Warnock is aiming to add to his backroom team - after admitting he had hoped Gerry Francis would stay on in his role.

Francis was brought to the Eagles by Tony Pulis in a part-time coaching capacity - the same kind of position he occupied at Stoke.

Francis continued to provide support to caretaker boss Keith Millen while Palace searched for a permanent successor to Pulis.

But once Warnock returned for a second spell in the hotseat, the former QPR and Tottenham manager left.

Dave Kemp also went earlier last month. He stayed on for the 2-1 defeat at Arsenal on the opening day of the season, just days after Pulis left Palace by mutual consent.

Warnock said: "Gerry has left the club and I'm disappointed - I'd hoped he'd stay on as he is someone I admire.
