BOB Peeters has revealed that Dennis Wise's refusal to let him go back to Belgium for surgery on his foot helped to double his time on the sidelines at Millwall.

And the Charlton head coach has taken a swipe at the former Lions manager.

"He taught me one thing - how not to be as a manager," said ex-striker Peeters, who scored three goals in 25 games for Millwall between 2003 and 2005. "That's the only thing I want to say. I don't want to give him a platform.

"My time at Millwall was hard. I was playing but then got a stress fracture in my foot. They fixed it with a pin but they didn't do it well in London.

"I said to them at first that I wanted to go to Belgium, that the surgeon knows my history but Millwall said no. Dennis Wise didn't want me to do my rehab back home.

"In the end I said 'I'm going back to Belgium whether you want it or not - it's my career. My surgeon fixed my foot and I continued playing for another four years after that."... read on
